It all started around 0 AD.  Jesus was born to Mary, a virgin.  This is pretty amazing, because she was a virgin, but God allowed her to give birth to a baby boy.  Another amazing thing was that Jesus was God in the form of man.  This was to fullfill ancient predictions of his coming.  Anyway, this boy grew into a man.  That's when he began to tell everyone who he was.  You can probably relate to many of these people in being skeptical about him being God, but he didn't just tell these people who he was, he proved it.  Throughout the years of his ministry, he performed many miracles.  They were also called signs, because they showed people his power.

    When the time came, Jesus gave himself up to people who wanted to kill him.  They were Jewish religious people who had become corrupt and had stopped following God.  They felt Jesus might take their power away from them, of course they didn't believe that he was God, and stirred up the people to have him killed.  He was taken to the Roman leaders and brutally whipped.  The Roman leader knew he was innocent, but was afraid of the people.  In fact, Jesus had never done anything wrong before.  That was the only way he could shield us from ours.  The people relentlessly called for Jesus' execution so it was carried out.

     After he was nailed with huge nails to a wooden cross, he died.  He was dead for three days and while he was dead, he achieved our salvation.  He then came back to life.  He was seen by many of his followers, and also seen when he went up into the clouds and heaven.  He is there now, ruling with God, and waiting for the end of the world to come so that he might claim his followers as his own.

    Now you might wonder to yourself how you can claim your place with him in heaven when you die.  I'll tell you.  All you must do is pray a simple prayer.  In your prayer, you must admit to God that you have done wrong and deserve to die.  You must ask that he will give you forgiveness, and immediately he will.  The life of a new Christian doesn't stop there.  It is very important that you read a Bible regularly, and heed God's instruction from it.  You must also speak with God or pray.  The Bible will also help you to know what to pray.

     If you would like a Bible, even if you're only curious about this stuff I've been talking about, all you must do is visit your local church and they'll be happy to give you one.  Ask for a NIV version Bible, because it's a lot easier to read.
